Master the art of the perfect baked potato!
Knowing how to properly bake a potato is an essential kitchen skill. It makes a delicious, low-effort side dish that bakes in the oven while you focus on the rest of your meal. The best part? If you have potatoes, oil, and a few basic spices, you already have everything you need.
Ingredients:
Medium Russet Potato
Olive Oil
Salt & Black Pepper
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 425°F (218°C).
Wash and thoroughly dry the potato with a paper towel.
Poke the potato several times on all sides with a fork to allow steam to escape.
Drizzle with olive oil and rub to cover evenly.
Season generously with salt and pepper on all sides.
Wrap tightly in aluminum foil.
Place directly on the middle wire rack in your preheated oven.
Bake for 45–60 minutes (baking time varies based on potato size).
Carefully unwrap (it will be hot!) and test for doneness with a fork. The fork should slide in with minimal resistance.
Slice open and serve with your favorite toppings like butter, sour cream, or chives!
