Mr D'z Route 66 Diner in Kingman, Arizona is a quintessential stop for breakfast, lunch, or dinner on the Mother Road.

Housed in a building that originally opened as Kingman Café and Kimo Shell Station in 1939, the property was purchased by Roy Dunton and his family in the 1980s, who renovated it into a 1950s-style diner serving family recipes and their own root beer blend. In 2000, Dunton leased the diner to Las Vegas chef Armando and Michelle Jimenez, who relocated to Kingman and have been slinging burgers and milkshakes ever since.

This stop is not to be missed. Outside, the restaurant stands out with a hot pink and turquoise color scheme, accented by fun signs, murals, and vintage vehicles. Inside, the palette continues across vinyl booth seats and chrome barstools, with checkered floors, memorabilia, and a jukebox playing oldies favorites. The record-shaped menu is full of classic diner fare — omelets, pancakes, a variety of burgers, hot dogs, pizza, pastas, and old-school classics — plus an extensive array of drinks and desserts. Be sure to get a frosty homemade root beer or an over-the-top milkshake to top off your meal.

In 2026, Route 66 celebrates its 100th anniversary. Established in 1926, the iconic Mother Road is in its Centennial year, and I want to bring that celebration to you. Every day throughout 2026, I'll be showcasing a different Route 66 attraction that you won't want to miss on your road trip.
