Discover the inspiring journey of veteran and author Gordon Charles MacLean in this exclusive Veterans Breakfast Club interview. Gordon shares his remarkable military service in the U.S. Air Force, where he specialized in electronic warfare and sensors, supporting the iconic U-2 Dragon Lady reconnaissance aircraft during the Gulf War era. From enlisting the day after his 18th birthday to deploying worldwide, Gordon’s story is a testament to discipline, dedication, and the transformative power of military experience.

After an impactful military career, Gordon transitioned into the world of real estate, applying the principles and discipline he learned in service to build a successful entrepreneurial career spanning over 30 years. His passion for helping others led him to write his debut book, The Awake Code: 39 Rules for Living a Fully Engaged Life, launching July 7th in Chicago. This book is not just for veterans or entrepreneurs but for anyone in the “second half” of life who has built something meaningful and is now seeking deeper purpose and fulfillment.

The Awake Code serves as a practical field manual, guiding readers through six transformative stages: alignment, momentum, connections, transcendence, legacy, and lift-off. Gordon distills decades of hard-earned wisdom into 39 concise, actionable rules designed to help readers strip away distractions, focus on their higher purpose, and live fully engaged lives. One standout rule, “Rest is a Weapon,” draws directly from his military experience, emphasizing the critical role of rest in maintaining sharpness and effectiveness—an often overlooked principle in today’s fast-paced world.

Beyond the book, Gordon is deeply committed to giving back to the veteran community. Proceeds from The Awake Code support K9s for Warriors, a national nonprofit dedicated to providing service dogs to veterans suffering from PTSD and other combat-related challenges. Gordon also shares his vision for a 72-acre legacy estate in North Walton County, Florida, designed as a sanctuary for veterans and the community, featuring a golf course, shooting range, obstacle course, and natural spaces for healing and connection.

Join us as we explore Gordon’s unique blend of military service, entrepreneurial success, and heartfelt philanthropy. Whether you’re a veteran, business professional, or someone searching for purpose in life’s next chapter, this interview offers valuable insights and inspiration.
