Hellooo, my GazKitchen families! Eiiiiiyyy!……
Today, we’re making a rich and delicious pot of Ofe Owerri, a traditional South Eastern Nigerian delicacy known for its hearty texture, beautiful aroma and generous combination of proteins.
And this one is not playing! We’re loading this pot with beef, cow tail, assorted beef offal, dried catfish, stockfish, smoked deboned kpanla/hake, periwinkle and snail. All coming together to give the soup that deep, rich and satisfying flavour.
The soup is thickened naturally with cocoyam, a touch of palm oil and beautifully seasoned with crayfish, Cameroon pepper, uziza seed and ogiri Igbo, then finished with a combination of okazi, ugu and uziza leaves.
The result? A beautifully rich, aromatic and flavour packed pot of Ofe Owerri that is absolutely perfect with swallow of your choice. But I highly recommend akpu aka fufu.
