You need to install a new Siemens dishwasher, replacing an old one that's on its way out. Here I show you every step in full detail, from removing the old machine to connecting the water and waste pipes, testing for leaks properly, and fitting the new one in flush and level, detailed enough that anyone can follow along.

Key tips

-Always unplug the dishwasher from the power before you start working on it, especially with water pipes involved. Don't risk mains power and water in the same job.

-Check underneath for hidden screws before you pull the old machine out. Some are screwed straight into the worktop, and you won't get it out until you've found and removed those.

-Always run a full test cycle before you push the dishwasher all the way into place. A slow drip you don't catch early can sit there rotting the floor for years before anyone notices.

-Turn the water off at the source before you disconnect anything, and check the tap actually controls that supply before you start undoing fittings.

-If it's going against a wall rather than into a cupboard, pack or tape the sides so nothing catches on the edge when you pull it back out later for a service.
